Finding a Therapist

In the search for a therapist- it can be overwhelming. Often, insurance companies will provide you with a long list of therapists on their panel who may or may not be available or what you’re looking for. Instead, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to: Psychologytoday.com (most therapists have a profile here).
  2. In the search bar - type in your city, what you’re looking for (women’s issues, postpartum, anxiety, depression, etc), and you can put your insurance in the search bar as well if you wish to use insurance. This will give you a more concise look at therapists that may be a good fit for you.
  3. Ask for a 15 min consultation (most therapist will provide a free phone consultation) to get a feel from the therapist to see if it’s a potential good fit. It’s like dating- not every therapist is a match for every person.
